Mission

The Healthy Women Healthy Babies Roundtable’s mission is to bring together partners to improve the health of Colorado women and babies through advocacy, collaboration, research and education.  We exist to:

  • Build connections and strengthen relationships among the many people and groups dedicated to improving maternal and infant health in Colorado.  We believe that by working together we can make a bigger difference.
  • Raise awareness among the public, health care providers and decision makers about the impact of preterm birth, low birth weight, and disabling conditions on Colorado families and communities.

  • Increase funding for and research into this important area.

Premature birth is the leading cause of neonatal death. Babies born too early or too small must fight for their survival – harnessed to tubes and monitors, often enduring painful surgeries, instead of loving arms. Those infants that do survive are more likely than full term babies to face life-long, multiple health problems that may include cerebral palsy, mental retardation, chronic lung disease and loss of hearing or sight or both.

HealthyWomen HealthyBabies is dedicated to connecting individuals and organizations so that, together, we can improve birth outcomes in Colorado. This website is one means of communication that HealthyWomen HealthyBabies offers to share information, encourage dialogue and foster involvement in this important cause. We encourage you to explore this website, offer ideas to enhance our efforts, and pursue involvement in one of our projects. We welcome your participation.
